About Us

Bright Spot Network connects cancer patients and survivors who are parents of small children with support and resources for individual and familial healing, recovery, and reconnection. We do this through: Virtual Support Group: We currently run four monthly support groups: Active Treatment and Survivorship, Partner Support, Living with Stage IV Cancer and BIPOC Parents Bright Reads: This program provides families with free age-appropriate books on cancer, illness, feelings, grief and loss. In addition to the books each family requests, we also send a copy of A Tiny Boat at Sea, an age appropriate resource for how to talk to kids about cancer. These books have all been vetted by staff and other parents with cancer. Bright Box: This program provides a parent or caregiver who is recovering from treatment or surgery with a box full of art supplies, designed with children of parents' with cancer in mind. Each box contains six simple art projects that have been especially designed for the children of a parent or caregiver who is recovering from cancer treatment or surgery. These projects are simple but engaging, created to keep kids busy while a parent is resting or an easy activity that allows for quality time between a caregiver and child. Bright Grants: Our small grant program, Bright Grants, provides $500 barrier-free grants to families impacted by cancer who are raising young children. Web Resources: Check out our web resources -- including activities for kids and parenting with cancer resources.
